Big News! New Website and Things to Come

Greetings all,

As I'm sure you noticed, things look significantly different than they did before. Here, I'll explain what some of the changes are and why they were made. The best thing to do is watch the 10-minute video below where I explain it all, but I'll share some of the big points here for those who prefer to read. Simply scroll past the video to see those.

In summary, I have

  • created a new website

  • created a new logo

  • updated the email format

  • started a Spotify channel for The Gospel Proclamation

When we inherited Harold Lafferty's The Prophecy Letter, our goal was to transfer and preserve all of his writings in the quickest, most efficient way possible. I therefore created a simple Google site which worked for a time, but it was very limited in what I could do with it and found it clumsy and frustrating at times. Nevertheless, it suited the purpose. Now, however, I've been blessed with the ability to make things what I had hoped for in the beginning, and this included creating a new website, logo, and email set up. All is designed to better serve the purpose of "holding forth the word of life" and to "strengthen the things which remain" (Philippians 2:16, Revelation 3:2). These updates also open the door to expand our scope and incorporate new things.

Other than a different look, everything is about the same except for the email and the website home page. In the email, the look has changed but the structure has not. The main difference in the email is that instead of copying the entire article and photos into the website, pdf, and the email, the email itself will simply have a link to the website. This was done for two reasons:

  1. To save a significant amount of time.

  2. More importantly, because the website has a function which the email does not.

On the website, I've set it up so readers can hover over a Bible passage with their mouse and it will pop up a small window with that verse. A few readers have suggested this and I have personally thought it needful in cases where I cite supporting passages but don't want to quote all of them. If you are on a mobile check, it's unlikely that you can hover over a verse, but clicking on it will bring it up in a new tab. You can try it here: John 17:17.

This feature should work on every page of the website. For some reason, the verses in the articles themselves will be highlighted blue if you can hover over them, but all other pages will look normal. If your internet connection is slow, it may not work.

The home page of the website has some new resources. On the left-hand side is a list of all of the most recent articles we've shared, and on the far right is a list of other resources of help. There, you will see that there is now a Spotify channel for The Gospel Proclamation, and there you will find all of the videos and classes we post to the YouTube channel. Having the Spotify channel also opens the door for doing some new things that I haven't done yet.

If you'd like to see how everything works, simply watch the video above where I walk through everything. Lord willing, this will help better serve the household and be a source of encouragement and benefit until our Lord returns. May he return even this day!

In the Hope of Israel,

Tanner Hawkins
